Character WORLD:

Set in a world very similar to ours, year 2015, science has done some major leaps of advancement when it comes to biology. In the UK they have cloning down to a fine art and across the globe tampering with your genes is all the rage. Whether it's to permanently change the colour of your eyes or hair, the texture of your skin or obtain superpowers, it's all possible! However, the latter is considered illegal, but since when has that stopped anyone? There's an entire underground network that deals in granting people superpowers as long as they have the cash for it.

People who mess with their own genes are known as Genetamps and public opinion on them is pretty divided. There are those who consider it a way of humanity evolving and others who consider it blasphemy and object to "tampering with what God has given you". There is a mutual wariness when it comes to those with superpowers since the potential for things to go wrong is high with them and there have been plenty of incidents that proved as much. There are those who take advantage of their powers and turn to crime and there's been a number of accidents where someone's powers went out of control. It's for those reasons that the government tries its best to crack down on illegal tampering and goes after these powered individuals to depower them again. Of course the military has taken an interest in these superhuman abilities too. All in all the superhuman community is a pretty hushed one, but it's one that's slowly on the rise as more and more people tamper with their genes to new extremes.

In the popular Genetamp city of NEWSTON there are even those who have taken it upon themselves to publicly use their powers for good, creating a superhero team known as the NEW FORCE. Heroes, villains, anything is possible in this world where people can decide the course of their own evolution, it can be hard to tell who is who and what is what. Character HISTORY: Youngest of the Crius triplets, Hyperion was born into a humble household, his parents struggling physically and financially to keep up with their recently grown family. The boys were raised to the best of their capabilities, and all three were rather fond of each other, despite rapidly differing personalities. Helios, the first-born, was the most outgoing of the three, the one who could gather a crowd and keep it entertained with the most ease; Apollo would become a bit of a hermit, more interested in gathering knowledge and finding new flavors to eat than socializing; finally, Hyperion was neither here nor there, easy-going and simply happy to follow the crowd and contribute with his own opinion whenever he felt prompted.

Growing up in their world's circumstances proved to give them considerably unremarkable lives, up to a point. They were given a proper education, encouraged to have normal lives, but Helios turned out to be the most dissatisfied with these arrangements. He took it upon himself to lead a strike out and bend the rules, ultimately breaking the law by changing his genes into having a super-power: technopathy. This caused him to become an outsider, namely with his family and brothers, and his psyche quickly started to give way to something more sinister. By the time Helios disappeared he'd already become a fully-fledged criminal.

The family was heartbroken - most of all Apollo. If he'd ever had ambitions in his life before, he gradually became obsessed with the loss of his brother and the idea that he could - had to - be brought back. One year after his disappearance Apollo had gathered a group of people not-so-secretly hoping to go after Helios and thwart his ongoing plans. Hyperion was asked to join, believing there either had to be some other way to to bring Helios back - not just to their home, but to the same person he used to be - or none at all. Reluctantly he agreed, and both of them arranged new genes and superhero personas were invented to aid him in the process.

Hyperion's career as a superhero was, unfortunately, not very brilliant. Taking on the name Genesis, he had a helpful skill and the necessary strength, though his low resources and dependence on Apollo to manage their strategies slowed him down. The operation they organized together had the one and only intent of bringing back Helios, blindly hopeful that they'd succeed if they kept at it long enough. That's what Hyperion believed, anyway. There had to be a solution - they simply hadn't found it yet.

Somewhere along the way, Hyperion and Apollo decided to split, unable to conciliate their views on what their super powers were for. It was around this time that he met Huell Lamphier, aka Rush, and decided to join his team New Force, helping them while keeping his own agenda.

Character PERSONALITY: Tall and lean, Hyperion's presence can be imposing or welcoming, depending on the mood. There are some changes from the kid he used to be, humble, kept to himself and easy to get along with, and not always the brightest crayon in the box. With a hint of a smirk in his lips and heavy thoughts behind his eyes, Hyperion generally presents himself as a calm, collected but friendly teenager, polite enough to keep a conversation going with a hint of humor. His opinion and help is easily offered, but his true intentions are often concealed. He is a person that believes nothing is entirely lost, nothing is set in stone and lives his life according to such.

The relationship with his family - namely his siblings - plays a very important, if currently secondary, role in his life. Apollo was the brother he considered an equal, even felt protective towards, despite his position as the leader in the group of superheroes battling against Helios. The latter was once someone Hyperion looked up to, being the oldest and the most collected of the triplets, the most likely to succeed in whichever endeavor he decided to pursuit. To the most part that turned out to be true, but unfortunately in all the wrong ways. Hyperion now lives his life trying the most to avoid those aspects of his life, to be his own person, away from his past and from the reputation that sometimes still follows him around. He thrives in being inconspicuous, wants no more than to be the person you know but don't necessarily remember. Whatever he once had with or against his brothers is now behind him, a past that still sort of haunts him when he allows it - or least expects it - to. His past is a story he doesn't share with ease.

Keeping his hands to himself and his eyes distant, Hyperion prefers to be conversing with one person at a time, to know about them, be it their hopes and dreams or weakest points. He doesn't necessarily struggle in group situations, simply finds himself naturally avoiding them in order to have an easier time keeping his secrets to himself. He reacts with supposed indifference to antagonism, though it'd be incorrect to say he can't be upset, and tries to maintain himself neutral in conflict. Neutrality would be the word that best describes Hyperion, in fact - he lives to serve his interests above all else, strives to keep himself safe and trusts that no one else can do that job for him. Even in his days as a superhero he keeps to himself during missions, for the most part, and is a quiet, if approachable contribution to the team. The less involved he has to be, the better.

As for his powers, Hyperion has thrived with them, using and abusing them to his whims. There's a level of secrecy he has to keep, of course, but for the most part he will go all out with his ability to manipulate blood in a dangerous situation.

» SAMPLES
First PERSON: [The camera shifts like the settings are still being tampered with, its user still clearly giving the framing a proper composition of his face and shoulders.]

Nice day we're having today. [He waves, briefly, two fingers barely shaping a salute over his temple. (A finger is missing from that hand, tucked next to the pinkie, to those playing close attention. He doesn't seem to mind it whether you do or not.)] Don't mean to bother any of you fine people, but this place doesn't exactly come with a pamphlet. I feel like I've been shipped to a theme park in Florida - [one disarming palm, coming up,] No offense. Or something. [Followed by a frown. Was that really insulting? More importantly, does he care?

Nope. Moving on.]
Anyway, it's not like I don't plan on doing some exploring of my own, but some pointers would be pretty damn great. Places to see, things to do, which food to eat. [Tilting his head with arched brows,] Which food to avoid. That kinda stuff. Just as I try to get acquainted and all.

Many thanks. And a good day to you, whoever you are.

Third PERSON: He flipped the amulet between his fingers, breathing through his lips with neither exhaustion nor exasperation. Pure boredom ran through his lungs and mind, head reclined on the seat of the train, droplets of rain calling for his attention with small, insignificant thuds against the window. His attention was won successfully, if briefly, lids blinking lazily at the landscape soaring past him, green shapes cast against the dull sky, and he waited. What he was waiting for was shapeless, unnamed, something he'd only know when it came to be, much like the amulet in his hand.

It didn't belong to him. It didn't belong to anyone he'd met, and would probably remain a valuable object taken from someone he never would. It was just one of those things he'd stumble into, be it on the busy streets, be it inside an empty home. Hyperion was sure some kind of meaning was to be considered in the shape of the inscription, an ornament meant to be more feminine than exactly significant. Most likely it had been a gift from someone with good taste but poor imagination.

He didn't consider it stolen. To steal you had to have an intent, an idea of what you'd do with the thing - keep it and make it your own, sell it and make a small fortune, dump it to find something better, whatever. Things like this were something that remained in a sort of limbo, however; it was neither his nor the world's to have, it was just a shape swinging around his fingers, back and forth, swaying in its own rhythm.

The train came to stop, and the sky outside ceased its cry for attention. Something else entirely had it now, something lost between buildings and roads displayed outside the carriage, waiting to be explored, by him and no one else, or so his instinct had suddenly decided. The pull to get on his feet and leave was sudden but subtle, discreetly leading him on until the train was long gone and his chance to give the amulet back to the world had left with it.
